▪ I. ‖ arpeggio (‖ arˈpeddʒɪo, ɑːˈpɛdʒɪəʊ) [It., f. arpeggiare to play upon the harp, f. arpa harp.] The employment of the notes of a chord in rapid succession instead of simultaneously; a chord thus played or sung.
