A. n.
1. One who lived (or one of a race held to have existed) before the time of Adam.
An appellation given by Isaac de la Peyrère in his Præadamitæ, 1655, to a race of men, the progenitors of the Gentile peoples, supposed by him to have existed long before Adam, whom he held to be the first parent of the Jews and their kindred only.
