praline|ˈprɑːliːn| Also 8—9 prawlin, 9 prawleen, prawling, praslin, praleen. [a. F. praline, f. the name of Marshal Duplessis-Praslin (1598–1675), by whose cook the confection was invented.] A confection made by browning almonds or nuts in boiling sugar; also transferred to various other preparations: see quots. 1809, 1883, 1893.
