‖ posticum Arch.|pɒˈstaɪkəm| [L. postīcum back door, rear of a building (Vitr.), prop. neut. of postīcus adj.: see postic.] a. A back door or gate. b. A portico or apartment at the back of an ancient Greek or Roman temple, behind the cella, and corresponding to the pronaos in front: in Greek called opisthodomos. c. ‘Eccl. A reredos’ (Cent. Dict.).
