post-Bloomˈfieldian, a. and n. Linguistics. [f. post- B. 1 b + the name Bloomfield (see below) + -ian.] A. adj. Subsequent to the work of the American linguist Leonard Bloomfield (1887–1949), freq. applied spec. to American structural linguistics in the 1950s. B. n. An American structuralist.
