postament Arch. rare.|ˈpəʊstəmənt| (Also 8 postment.) [ad. It. postamento, f. postare to post, posta situation, placing, setting; whence also Ger. etc. postament.] A pedestal, a base; also, a framing, mounting, or moulding around a bas-relief, large cameo, or the like.
