polytrophic, a.|pɒlɪˈtrɒfɪk| [In sense a, f. Gr. πολυτρόϕος giving much nourishment (f. πολυ-, poly- + τρέϕειν to feed) + -ic; with sense b, cf. Gr. πολύτροϕος (f. as above) highly nourished.] †a. ? Affording much nourishment; highly nutritive. Obs. b. Of a parasitic organism: Infesting more than one host. So poˈlytrophy, abundant or excessive nutrition (? obs.).
