[mod.L., a. Gr. *τὸ πολυσύνδετον, prop. neut. adj. (cf. asyndeton), f. πολυ-, poly- + σύνδετος, verbal adj. f. συν-δέ-ειν to bind together.]
A figure consisting in the use of several conjunctions in close succession; usually, the repetition of the same conjunction (as and, or, nor) to connect a number of co-ordinate words or clauses. Opp. to asyndeton.
