polyprotodont, a. and n. Zool.|pɒlɪˈprəʊtəʊdɒnt| [f. Gr. πολυ-, poly- + πρῶτο-ς first + ὀδούς, ὀδοντ- tooth; cf. diprotodont.] a. adj. Having more than two front or incisor teeth in the lower jaw, as the carnivorous and insectivorous marsupials. b. n. A polyprotodont marsupial. (Opp. to diprotodont.) Hence polyprotoˈdontid a., of or belonging to the polyprotodonts.
