pogge|pɒg| [Origin unascertained.] A name given to certain fishes. a. The armed bull-head, Cottus cataphractus, having a large broad flat head and sharply tapering body, armed with spines and bony plates. b. Aspidophorus, an acanthopterygian genus, armed with shield-like scales.
