‖ Podura Entom.|pəʊˈd(j)ʊərə| [mod.L. podūra (Linn. 1748), f. Gr. πούς, ποδ- foot + οὐρά tail.] A genus of apterous insects, having a terminal forked springing organ; hence known as spring-tails. Hence poˈduran a., of or pertaining to the genus Podura; n., an insect of this genus or of the family Poduridæ; so poˈdurid a. and n.; poˈduroid a., having the form or character of the Poduridæ.
