arcosolium|ɑːkəʊˈsəʊlɪəm| Pl. -ia. [med.L., f. arcus bow, arch + solium seat, sarcophagus.] An arched cell or niche, vaulted in semi-circular form, serving as a tomb in the Roman catacombs.
