plasmatocyte, n. Ent.|plæzˈmætəʊsaɪt| [f. Gr. πλάσµα, πλασµατο- (see plasma n.) + -cyte.] Each of the large phagocytic cells, variable in shape but having a large nucleus and basophilic cytoplasm, that make up much of the haemolymph of some insects.
