planigraph|ˈplænɪgrɑːf, -æ-| [ad. F. planigraphe, f. plani- + Gr. -γραϕος: see -graph.] An instrument (invented by Marmet, of Versailles) for reducing or enlarging drawings. It consists of a rule fitted with two scales having graduations of different magnitude, placed end to end in opposite directions, and turning about a pivot at the point of junction; it is provided with a number of different scales for different degrees of reduction.
