‖ pityriasis|pɪtɪˈraɪəsɪs| [mod.L., a. Gr. πιτῡρίασις scurf (Galen), f. πίτῡρον bran.] 1. Path. A condition of the skin characterized by the formation and falling off of irregular patches of small bran-like scales, without inflammation; the (diseased) formation of dandruff or scurf.
