pilocarpine Chem.|paɪləʊˈkɑːpaɪn| [f. mod.L. Pīlocarpus, generic name in Bot. (f. Gr. πῖλος wool, felt + καρπ-ός fruit) + -ine5.] A white crystalline or amorphous alkaloid, C11H16N2O2, obtained from the leaves of Jaborandi, Pilocarpus pinnatifolius (or other species), used in pharmacy. So piloˈcarpene, a volatile oil, and piloˈcarpidine, an alkaloid, from the same source.
