phycobiont Bot.|faɪkəʊˈbaɪɒnt| [f. phyco- + Gr. βιουντ-, pr. pple. stem of βιοῦν to live, f. βίος life.] The algal component of a lichen; any alga which is associated with a fungus to form a lichen.
