photogene|ˈfəʊtədʒiːn| [mod. f. Gr. type *ϕωτογενής light-produced: see photo- 1, -gen 2.] 1. Physiol. A visual impression (usually negative, i.e. having the complementary colours and shades) continuing after the withdrawal of the object which produced it; an after-image.
