phenothiazine Pharm.|fiːnəʊ-, fɛnəʊˈθaɪəziːn| Formerly also phenthiazine. [f. pheno- + thio- + azine.] a. A green, crystalline, heterocyclic compound, C12H9NS, which is used in veterinary medicine in the treatment of parasitic infestations. b. Any of various derivatives of this, which constitute an important class of tranquillizing drugs used esp. in the treatment of mental illnesses.
