‖ phalæna Entom.|fəˈliːnə| [mod.L., a. Gr. ϕάλαινα, prop. ϕάλλαινα a moth.] A moth: used by Linnæus as a generic name for all moths; afterwards for all below the Sphingina, or for the Geometrina; not now used with any entomological value.
