† ˈperlate, perˈlated, a. Chem. Obs. [ad. mod.L. perlāt-um, f. perla pearl: see quot. 1802.] In perlate or perlated acid, Bergman's name for acid phosphate of sodium.
1789J. Keir Dict. Chem. 136/2 The substance to which Bergman has given the name of perlated acid. 1802T. Thomson Chem. (1807) II. 569 Haupt described it in 1740 under the name of sal mirabile perlatum, or ‘wonderful perlated salt’.
