pericynthion Astr.|pɛrɪˈsɪnθɪən| [f. peri- + Gr. κύνθιον, neut. of κύνθιος, adj. designating Mt. Kynthos on Delos, the birthplace of Artemis, goddess freq. associated with the moon.] That point at which a spacecraft in lunar orbit is closest to the moon's centre: applied esp. if the spacecraft was not launched from the moon.
