‖ pentagynia Bot.|pɛntəˈdʒɪnɪə| [mod.L., f. penta- + Gr. γυνή woman, female, taken in sense ‘female organ, pistil’.] An order of plants in many classes of the Linnæan System, comprising those having five pistils. Hence ˈpentagyn (rare), a plant of this order; pentaˈgynian, pentaˈgynious, penˈtagynous adjs., belonging to this order, having five pistils.
