pelmatozoan, a. and n. Zool.|ˌpɛlmətəʊˈzəʊən| [f. mod. L. Pelmatozōa, neut. pl. (f. Gr. πελµατο- (see prec.) + ζῷον animal) + -an.] a. adj. Belonging to the division Pelmatozoa of Echinoderms, characterized by a stalk by which they are fixed, and comprising the Crinoids and the extinct Blastoidea and Cystoidea. b. n. An echinoderm of this division. So ˌpelmatoˈzoic a., belonging to or characteristic of the Pelmatozoa.
