pegmatite Min.|ˈpɛgmətaɪt| [f. Gr. πῆγµα, πηγµατ- in sense of ‘thing joined together or conglutinated’ + -ite1.] A coarsely crystallized kind of granite, containing little mica. Hence pegmatitic |-ˈtɪtɪk|, ˈpegmatoid adjs., resembling or having the structure of pegmatite.
