‖ parabema|pærəˈbiːmə| Pl. -mata. [a. mod.Gr. παράβηµα, f. παρά beside + βῆµα bema.] In Byzantine churches, The part of the edifice on each side of the bema, when separated from the latter by a wall. Hence parabeˈmatic a., pertaining to a parabema; supported on the parabemata.
