‖ panegyris|pəˈniːdʒɪrɪs, -ˈɛdʒɪrɪs| [a. Gr. πανήγυρις, f. παν- all + ἄγυρις = ἀγορά assembly.] 1. Gr. Antiq. A general assembly; esp. a festal assembly in honour of a god. In quots. 1647–79 in allusion to Heb. xii. 23.
