ˌpalæoanthroˈpology Also (chiefly U.S.) paleo-. [ad. F. paléoanthropologie (P. Topinard Élém. d'Anthrop. Gén. (1885) vii. 177): see anthropology.] The branch of anthropology concerned with the study of fossil hominids.
