Palȳgorsk, name of a locality by the Popovka river in the Ukrainian S.S.R.: see -ite1.] A silicate of magnesium and aluminium that occurs as soft, light-coloured, fibrous layers and has a structure based on silica tetrahedra arranged in double chains.
