Palekh|ˈpɑːlɛk| The name of a town in Ivanovo province in northwest U.S.S.R. used attrib. to designate the iconography for which the town was renowned in the 18th century, and also a type of miniature painting on such articles as boxes and trays which was developed there during the 19th century.
