oxychromatin Biol.|ɒksɪˈkrəʊmətɪn| [a. G. oxychromatin (M. Heidenhain 1894, in Arch. f. mikrosk. Anat. XLIII. 543), f. Gr. ὀξυ- sharp, acid: see chromatin.] A supported component of chromatin characterized by a greater affinity for acid dyes and a smaller content of nucleic acid than chromosomal chromatin.
