▪ I. overline, v.1|-ˈlaɪn| [f. over- 1 + line n.2, v.2] trans. To draw a line over or above (a piece of writing: opp. to underline); also, to insert an interlinear translation or the like above. Hence overˈlined ppl. a., having a line above it (usu. said of a printed character or number).
