a. Of or pertaining to the East Frankish dynasty of the Holy Roman Empire founded by Otto I (912–73), which ruled from 962 to 1002. Also (rare) as n., a member of this dynasty.
b. Pertaining to or characteristic of the art of this period, in part a revival of Carolingian art and extending into the 11th century.
