osone Chem.|ˈəʊsəʊn| [ad. G. oson (E. Fischer 1889, in Ber. d. Deut. Chem. Ges. XXII. 87), f. -ose -ose2 + -on -one.] Any compound containing two adjacent carbonyl groups, obtained by hydrolysing an osazone.
