orthotriæne|ˈɔːθəʊtraɪˌiːn| [f. ortho- ‘right’ + Gr. τρίαινα trident.] A triæne or tridentate sponge spicule, whose three prongs or cladi project at right angles from the shaft; a simple spicule of the rhabdus type, with three secondary rays at one end, at right angles with the shaft.
