Olympus|əʊˈlɪmpəs| (Also 6 Olimp.) [L. Olympus, a. Gr. Ὄλυµπος name of several lofty mountains, each app. the highest in its own district; esp. that mentioned below.] A mountain in the north of Thessaly, the fabled abode of the greater gods of ancient Greek mythology; hence applied to heaven as the divine abode; rarely, to the sky.
