‖ nux vomica|nʌks ˈvɒmɪkə| [med.L. f. nux nut + fem. of *vomicus, f. voměre to vomit.] 1. The seed contained in the pulpy fruit of an East Indian tree (Strychnos Nux-vomica), from which the poison strychnia is obtained.
