nonose Chem.|ˈnəʊnəʊs, -z| [a. G. nonose (E. Fischer 1890, in Ber. d. Deut. Chem. Ges. XXIII. 934): see nona- and -ose2.] Any monosaccharide having nine carbon atoms in the molecule, esp. when these are all in an unbranched chain.
