I.
1. †a. Without article. As a designation of persons or things, implying sense 2. Obs. rare.

c. Nonesuch (or Nonsuch) chest: a type of wooden chest made in the 16th and 17th centuries, inlaid with stylized designs supposedly representing views of Nonsuch Palace (see 1 b); also Nonesuch ornament.

Furnit. v. 71 A somewhat rare type of chest..called a ‘Nonesuch’ chest. 1920Connoisseur Dec. 205 The ‘Nonsuch chest’..possesses the flat surface unrelieved by mouldings, which is characteristic of many of the earlier inlaid pieces. 1960H.
