neossine|niːˈɒsaɪn| [f. Gr. νεοσσ-ός a young bird + -ine5.] The substance of which the edible birds' nests of the East are made, being a mucus secreted by the salivary glands of a genus of swifts (Collocalia). Hence neˈossidine.
