narceine Chem.|ˈnɑːsɪɪn, -aɪn| Also -in. [a. F. narcéine (Pelletier, 1832), f. Gr. νάρκη numbness, deadness: see -ine5.] A bitter crystalline alkaloid obtained from opium, sometimes used in medicine as a substitute for morphia.
