‖ Aphaniptera, n. pl. Zool.|æfəˈnɪptərə| [mod.L., f. Gr. ἀϕαν-ής unseen + -πτερος winged, f. πτερόν wing.] A small order of insects, in which the wings exist only as rudimentary scales.
