A word made up from the initials of Australian and New Zealand Army Corps, and used colloq. for a member of that corps, or to designate any Australian or N.Z. serviceman. Also attrib., as Anzac Day, the occasion (or anniversary) of the landing of the corps in the Gallipoli Peninsula on 25 April, 1915.
