Munsterlander, n.|ˈmʌnstə-, ˈmʊnstəlændə(r)| Also munsterlander. [a. Ger. Münsterlander, f. the name of Münsterland, a region of western Germany where the breed originated.] A breed of long-haired dog, originally bred for hunting, and occurring in two varieties, the larger black-and-white kind resembling a pointer or setter, the smaller more like a (usu. brown and white) spaniel; a dog of this breed.
