1. Fr. Hist. Originally, a foot-soldier armed with a musket; in the 17th and 18th c. a member of either of two bodies (called respectively the Grey or White and the Black Mousquetaires, from the colour of their horses) which formed part of the king's household troops. They were all of noble birth, and were famous as dandies.

Also short for mousquetaire glove.
