‖ motacilla|məʊtəˈsɪlə| [L. mōtacilla wagtail, perh. f. mōtāre to keep moving; according to Varro so called ‘quod semper movet caudam’; cf. the Eng. name.] A genus of birds, now restricted to the wagtails, but formerly of wider extent; a bird of this genus.
