▪ I. ‖ morgen|ˈmɔːgən| [Du. and G. morgen, believed to be the same word as morgen morn, with the sense ‘area of land that can be ploughed in one morning’.] A measure of land in Holland and S. Africa (and hence in parts of the U.S.), equal to about two acres. Also, in † Prussia, Norway, and Denmark, a measure of land now equal to about two-thirds of an acre.
