Of, having, or using a single electrode; applied esp. to techniques and apparatus (a) for passing electric currents through the body using two electrodes of different sizes or natures, one being usually much larger than the other, and (b) for measuring electric potentials in the body, where one electrode is inserted in the region to be studied and the other acts as a reference electrode.
