monokaryon Bot.|mɒnəʊˈkærɪən| Also monocaryon. [f. mono- after dikaryon.] A mononuclear cell, spore, or mycelium in higher fungi that have a dikaryotic stage of the life cycle. Hence monokaryˈotic a., containing or characteristic of a monokaryon.
