Name of the people and language of Mitanni, a Hurrian kingdom centred on the Habur and Upper Euphrates which flourished in the fifteenth and early fourteenth centuries b.c. Also attrib. or as adj. So Miˈtannian n., an inhabitant of Mitanni; the language of Mitanni; Miˈtannian, Miˈtannite (rare) adjs., of or pertaining to Mitanni, its people, or its language.
